Vanessa & Arjang were planning their summer 2020 wedding when things in the world started to change. They were excited and set to wed with a traditional ceremony and reception at The Jam Factory this year, but like many other couples were stuck with uncertain plans due to Covid-19. Vanessa’s parents were from out of country and since international travel was still up in the air, a wedding without immediate family around seemed pointless. Nonetheless, to celebrate their love and relationship, we took to the charming streets of Toronto for a modern and romantic elopement shoot. Without losing their spirits, the couple spent a warm summer evening, enjoying each others company as they walked through their favourite parts of the city.

It is surely a different and crazy time we are living in! The Covid-19 Pandemic has affected all ends of the world. To prevent the virus from spreading gatherings were severely cut back and initially limited to 250 people, then to 50 people, to 10 people and now the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) has further limited indoor and outdoor non-essential gathering to 2 people. Now you can imagine how this has impacted events, weddings and couples all over the globe and maybe you’re even one of them. We’ve all been sitting in our homes for 2 whole months now, itching to get out but a pause in events doesn’t means you have to stop wedding planning. Instead keep dreaming and look towards the brighter future when you can celebrate YOU again!

It is truly an honour to be featured IN PRINT on WedLuxe’s latest magazine. This editorial came together in less than 2 weeks. Once I was asked to jump onboard , I worked day in and day out (no joke!) to find exactly we needed and the perfect vendor team to translate our vision. This issue of WedLuxe was inspired by the Romanticism Era. The Blue Flower was a symbol of romantic desire and longing of love back in the years.

Including her 4- year old in all the celebrations was a huge part of the day and most important to the couple. The head table was a table for 3. There were two wedding cakes, and instead of a grooms cake, they opted for a cake with a topper that included the 3 as a family. The little man even had the honours of walking his mom down the aisle AND being the best man. What a lucky boy!

In Ontario, once the month of October hits, the change of colours of leaves sweeps across the whole province. Fall foliage is a sight to see and this range of red, orange, yellow, green and brown is what inspired our styled shoot. Earth tones and nature were brought indoors to enhance the already magical Hacienda Sarria, a spanish villa that was once an old sugar beet mill back in the 1900’s.

The vision of this design stemmed from the soft shade of yellow – buttercream. At this vineyard venue where the land is vast and the sunlight touched through all the pockets between the overcasting lush trees, the bride was truly chasing its’ rays and all its’ warmth.

There are just SO many options when it comes to choosing the perfect wedding venue. Just like any of your wedding vendors, your venue also has to be the perfect fit for you as a couple.
If you have somewhat of a vision for your future wedding, you’ll have an idea of which types of venues you’ll be open to seeing. Ask yourself “What is my theme?” “Does the venue aligned with theme?”

Dahee and Chris’s wedding took place at one of Toronto’s newly built venues Eglinton West Gallery sister of York Mills Gallery. With the venue just opening in February, the couple had set their wedding date for April. Not only were they excited to be one of the first couples to get married there but I was eager myself to work at the brand new EWG. The couple planned their wedding within a matter of 6 months.
