This editorial is the definition of minimalistic beauty. Creating this inspiration Fairmaven Events and I wanted to show our brides that not all wedding designs are floral heavy, in fact much of these designs were created from foraging pieces out in the wild. With branches, twigs and smoke bush Fairmaven Events put together our featured piece, “The Nest”. Our earth toned palette were shades of toffee, tan, and terracotta that were complimented with an airy pastel blue.
The bride donned three modern and chic wedding dresses. A stunning “Alma” and trendy “Zoe” from Savannah Miller and the full movement T.B top and skirt from New White. These looks all truly represented the fashion savvy, stylish bride and proved that a minimal look doesn’t mean plain and simple. Makeup by Presley Foskett was kept natural and light, while hair by Shannon Petrolito started with a romantic updo that was then transformed to a pulled back low ponytail that all brides will be asking for their upcoming weddings. The close up of the back shows the intricate hairstyle that’s seen paired with Bronze Age’s oversized scrunchie for that statement piece.
Olumis Calligraphy used custom embossed flowers on the invitation envelopes that was also seen in The Cocoa Cakery’s unique asymmetrical hexagon wedding cake and hexagon dessert cookies. The embossing detail that was so subtle, yet so intricate was one of my favourites throughout the shoot.
Taking centre stage on the reception table were the velvet textured beans on our low centrepieces. Such a unique plant is rarely used for wedding designs but provided such an earthy compliment to the floral design. Everlasting flowers known as Acrocliniums also provided texture to the arrangements and bridal bouquet. These daisy-like flowers look fresh all year long but are paper-like to touch. The spaces between were filled by ikebana pieces – a minimal Japanese floral art-form.
The Great Hall is a well lit venue full of white space and when the sun shines through, it gave us the time to play with shadows. Instead of avoiding shadows we wanted it to work in our favour, even in a flatlay, a little streak of sunlight and shadows from the windows added such dimension.
The minimalist aesthetic is here to stay. There is so much beauty in simplicity and we really wanted to show that to our future brides.
