Choosing where you’d like to host your rehearsal dinner can go one of two ways. You may want to plan a fancier sit-down dinner at a more upscale restaurant or host a laid-back dinner at a much more casual restaurant. Good thing Toronto has a variety of eateries to choose from. Born and raised in Toronto, I’ve seen lots of restaurants come and go but here are some staples that your friends and family would approve of.
Auberge de Pommier
This is a city classic. Auberge de Pommier opened in 1987 and have been serving refined French cuisine under The Oliver & Bonacini crown Tucked away in a quaint area of North York, the chic cottage looking exterior transports you into a charming romantic dining interior. Their seasonal menus are always changing offering a mix of new flavors. Definitely a treat yourself meal!
Piano Piano
There are a few reasons why this restaurant makes the list. 1) It’s Italian and any reason to eat a plateful of pasta is a good reason. 2) They offer a Family Style Menu. How much more homey will it feel when you say “Could you please pass the bread?” and 3) PASTA again

copa cabana
Throwing in an AYCE option. This place is for all the meat lovers, especially if you are a steak lover. Reading the menu itself will probably have you salivating, but your experience here will be one of a kind. Copa Cabana offers live dancing shows with traditional Brazilian Music so the ambiance is lively that’s for sure. Even if you’re not a huge fan of meat their “Galleria” is enough to impress you and fill you up. My favorites are the cornbread, and grilled pineapple (none of which are meat related ironically).
Kinka izakaya
Kinka Izakaya formally known as Guu Izakaya will transport you straight to Japan. The moment you open the door, you’re invited to a party greeted by all the servers! If you’re looking for a quaint atmosphere, this isn’t the place. Expect noise, chatter and a fun time. If your party is 10 or less, this restaurant is a great option. The menu features selections beyond just sushi. Tapas-style dishes are paired with a selection of premium Japanese sake and beers. The Baked Oysters are a must-try! There are 3 locations in Toronto, Church St. The Annex, and North York.
richmond station
Richmond Station is co-owned by Top Chef Canada winner Carl Heinrich. That’s already a hint that you’re in for a fine dining experience. Located right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Toronto’s downtown core you’ll find this friendly restaurant. When seated around the back of the restaurant you have the view of an open kitchen. There are menu staples like the “Station Burger”. I have no idea what they put in it but it has got to be one of the best burger I’ve ever tasted! A must-get if you come here. The chalkboard specials always gain popularity as well as their chef’s menus. Your taste buds better be ready for a true culinary experience!
el catrin
In the middle of the distillery district, the first thing you’ll notice when you walk into El Catrin is the beautiful interior decor. There is a wall adorned with an impressive floor to ceiling Mexican street art mural full of skulls. On the opposite wall you’ll find a huge display of the variety of tequila and mescal they offer. On warmer days, they have a spacious patio that is always buzzing. Bring your guests here if you’re feeling for a Mexican fiesta. Did someone say guac?
